The governments in Latin America need a major reform. A majority of the nations there are either facing poverty or great amounts of violence (or both in some cases).

While not all those nations are in bad shape, those that are, need to improve conditions or else they won't prosper at all. They are falling behind, and that's why a lot of their inhabitants are emigrating to the U.S due to the lack of opportunities in their old country. And sadly the people left are usually criminals or uneducated individuals who don't contribute much to the country.
