Politicians don't like to tax themselves

Politicians don't like to tax themselves
Rules are rules. But when new rules might infringe upon a politician's life, he will fight it. We end up with rules to oppress the masses, but not the politicians who make them.

Barack Obama wants to limit itemized tax deductions for the rich. I think that's a great idea. It prevents them keeping more of their so easily-earned money through tax loopholes. But politicians don't like this because they would fall into that category. Had Obama raised the limits on the salary, they might have agreed. One argued that this would decrease on charity donations, so charities would suffer.

Give me a break. If you now only get $280 savings, rather than $396, from a $1000 reduction in taxable income, wouldn't you give more in order to get more savings? Or, are you saying that you are less likely to give just because you don't think it will give you any tax breaks? Was that your sole purpose in giving? Were you getting some kickbacks to donate to certain people?

Obama also wants to increase the top tax bracket from 35% to 39.6% by allowing the discount introduced by Bush to expire in 2011. I'm sure the politicians have something brewing to preven that from happening.

RE: Politicians don't like to tax themselves
Hi Dig,

I agree the more money a person has the more charitable they can be.
Obama may not repeal Bush's tax breaks for the wealthy. They do need to start receiving more tax income, but that will come in the form of Cap and Trade.
It's the buying and trading of co2 offsets. A limit is put on each business and person on maximum CO2 output, if exceeded they're fined if they haven't purchased Carbon offsets.
Just as in the financial sector operating as a casino and the private federal reserve propagating the housing bubble and destroying all the worlds economies.
They will pass this bill where they can again buy, sell and trade invisible assets in the form of Carbon offsets.

What they've done with property, and that is buying insurance for assets the banks didn't hold mortgages on. Betting whether or not a person will be foreclosed upon.
They will now invest and trade in something that is once again built on a lie.

Did you know the Cap and Trade bill will tax citizens for breathing? Humans give off 2.5 lbs on Carbon Dioxide per day.
Have you seen the newpaper reports saying how children are bad for the environment?.

Of course, it all comes back to population control/ Eugenics.

Just my opinion..................Ghosty

Politicians don't like to tax themselves? I think that is unfair. If they don't like, then ordinary people have the right also to dislike paying their respective tax?
