U.S. doesn't have 'permanent enemies,' Rice says
Condoleezza discusses about Iraq, Iran and Syria. She says US is open to better relations but Iran is not willing to co-operate. She also discusses about Israelis and Palestinians and says that she will work with Bush to help in turning the discussions of those countries into substantive agreements.

RE: U.S. doesn't have 'permanent enemies,' Rice says
That speech seems to be 'politically correct'. US will never have any 'permanent enemy' but it will keep declaring wars on other countries. US will always state itself as correct and other countries should adjust to it's ideology or they are not compromising.

RE: U.S. doesn't have 'permanent enemies,' Rice says
Well while a country is not necessarily a permanent enemy, I don't think the concept applies to an individual. Let's take Japan for instance, after WWII the conflict settled down, and now we don't have much problems with them. So they were once our enemy, now they're a friend since the old conflict is over. But you can't say the same about people. Sure some people may change their minds, but not everyone is like that. If a specific leader hates the U.S they will continue to do so, and as long as they are in power, there will be conflict.
